Something is happening right now. Something hidden. When an industry is hidden, its purveyors know how detrimental it would be to get discovered. The sex-trafficking industry has stayed expertly hidden across the country, and for far too long, we have only seen the effects of it: trafficked children in our counseling center who connect with our animals because they are too scared or ashamed to talk to people anymore. Adults who have fallen into self-destruction because of what happened to them as children.
We’re tired of watching the effects of an industry that doesn’t care about its critical damage on real lives, young lives that deserve cartoons and birthday gifts and hobbies and hugs from parents who truly love them every single day. We can’t erase traumatic memories, but we can bring what’s hiding into the light, and we can build more opportunities for people to receive what they deserve.
Sex trafficking is bigger than you or I, but not us together. Please read on.
