My passion to save animals and help people was the reason I started Ranch Hands Rescue in 2008. I formulated the vision and mission for Ranch Hands Rescue, in 2009 it became a 501 (c) 3 public charity. I focused on taking in the “Worst-of-the Worst” farm animal abuse and neglect cases; ones that no one wanted to deal with or would rather euthanize. I call them the “throw aways.” I believe with all my heart that we are their last hope and I believe God brings them to me for a reason. Through my own experience with rescued animals, I realized the therapeutic impact they have on mental health. In 2010 I started the Ranch Hands Rescue Equine and Animal Assisted Counseling (EEAC) program. There is an estimated 5% of individuals that just don’t do well in a traditional office counseling sessions and “get stuck” or fall through the cracks. So I asked myself. “What happens to them? Where do they go for help?”
My vision then became to help people overcome painful mental health issues by partnering abused and neglected animals with counseling clients under the guidance of a fully Licensed Professional Counselor. Our counselors are highly trained and certified in trauma0focused therapy, EEAC, and other therapeutic modalities and are among the top professionals in the country. This partnership allows clients to relate to the trauma the animal has experienced.
Our cutting edge counseling program provides an effective and alternate form of treatment for those suffering from painful mental health symptoms brought on by sexual assault, physical abuse, domestic violence, and other traumatic life experiences. My goal is to serve innocent survivors of trauma regardless of the ability to pay.
If you or a loved one is in need of counseling do not hesitate to contact us to begin a new path of hope, healing and positive transformation. Thank you for your support!
